The name “Kutnu” comes from an Arabic word “kut’n” meaning “cotton”. Kutnu fabric production in Gaziantep dates back to 16th Century. At the beginning, these traditional fabrics were called as “Palace Fabric”. Sultan’ s kaftans were made by them. Palace Fabric (Kutnu) symbolised power, beauty and elegance.
